2022 Goals: Eat More Salsa

Balancing your diet and overall happiness can be a struggle. While most of us understand the significance of the gut-brain connection, every now and then, we just want to eat what tastes good.

If you’re new to the term, the gut-brain connection refers to the idea that our gut health is significantly related to our overall wellness. Poor diet and digestive issues are often linked to issues like anxiety and depression. Not to mention the discomfort we feel when something just doesn’t sit right with us.

So how do we deal with this? How can we eat what we want, while still being conscious about how it will make us feel?

Eat More Salsa

One of the reasons why we love salsa so much is because it’s not just good–it’s actually good for you. As far as dips and condiments go, salsa is brimming with benefits. It’s light, fresh and full of dietary supplements like fiber which is crucial when it comes to digestive health.

You can double dip with this plant-based crowd pleaser. And you don’t have to feel guilty about it.

Why Salsa Always Wins

The most important meal of the day should be enjoyable.

Breakfast nachos, burritos, or egg scrambles are some of our favorite things, but they wouldn’t be the same without a little flavor.

Whether you buy from your favorite vendor or prepare your own homemade salsa, it’s generally low in calories and high in good stuff, like Vitamin C.

Skip the guilt of unhealthy, harmful condiments and snacks and add some more salsa to your breakfast routine (or morning weekend treat).

Simple, easy, and delicious

Salsa is one of the best snack foods around, and if you’re bringing a dish to share, it’s basically guaranteed to make everyone happy.

Whether you’re propped up on the couch with your favorite movie or socializing in the kitchen at a family gathering, it’s easy to eat half a jar in one sitting (accidentally, of course).

And, hey—that’s okay. There are far worse things to overdo it with than a bunch of vegetables.

Plant-based and diet-friendly

It can be hard to find things to eat when you have dietary restrictions. Whether you’re on the Keto diet, are vegetarian, vegan, or even gluten-free—salsa is likely to fit in with your dietary needs.

Those that are gluten free should be aware that salsa is not generally made with any ingredients that contain gluten, but sometimes cross-contamination occurs, depending on the company.

For the most part, however, it’s a snack that satisfies and fits seamlessly into most diets.

Add some flavor to your favorite dishessans the guilt

Whether it’s chicken tacos, chili, goulash, or a looming tower of nachos—salsa is a guilt-free way to add some kick and flavor to your favorite foods.

Not too sweet and not too spicy: salsa goes with everything. Hold the guilt, bring on the yum.
